Girls' Day Out 2009

13 Nov 09:  Merchants and restaurants in the Hillyard, East Sprague and North Monroe Business Centers are catering to and pampering female customers for a shopping event! These Business Associations are proud to sponsor Spokane¡¯s fifth annual ¡°Girls Day Out¡± on Saturday November 14th, 10am-6pm.

¡°Girls Day Out¡± is a neighborhood shopping event that takes place in three unique Spokane neighborhood business centers. Women of all ages are invited to sample the unique local flavor of each district. These business centers offer a little bit of everything¨C the usual and the unusual, the funky and fun ¨C as well as tremendous antiques and antiquity expertise, new and used furniture, clothing, gift, jewelry, unique book stores, along with some of the best coffee houses, bakeries, and local restaurants in the city.

The neighborhood business center merchants offer great products and services and for this event they will offer a great experience too. Make sure to pick up your copy of the Exchange on November 12th for a complete list of participating businesses and maps.  You can also visit the Girls Day Out website at www.girlsdayoutspokane.com.

ChalkArtWalk 2009: "Hillyard's Future?"

3 June 09:  This Saturday's twelfth annual ChalkArtWalk will be the last time the historic Hillyard sidewalks will serve as canvases for street artists and their fans in this renowned community event. That's because the 2009 streetscape project to renew the historic Market Street district will replace all the lumpy and cracked concrete with new, smooth sidewalks with colored trim designed to especially highlight the artists' masterpieces. Work on the street is scheduled to begin within the next few weeks.

Registration starts at 10am at Market and Queen, judging begins at 3pm.  First 100 artists get free ChalkArtWalk t-shirts.  This is a completely free event.

Hillyard Festival Association Meeting
2nd and 4th Tuesdays of every month, 6:45pm, Northeast Community Center 4001 N Cook St. Come help us prepare for the 2009 Hillyard Festival Association.  If you are interested in having fun, building community and bringing first class events to our neighborhood, please come join us.

Greater Hillyard Business Association
2nd Wednesdays  of every month, 6:30pm, Northeast Community Center, 4001 N Cook St. The Greater Hillyard Business Association's mission is to promote new and existing businesses and economic development in Hillyard and surrounding areas, to promote greater Hillyard as a desirable location to live, work, shop and play and to organize community business throughout Greater Hillyard, to create a VOICE respected in the Region.  Come join us!

Hillyard Neighborhood Council Meeting
3rd Wednesdays of every month, 6:30pm, Northeast Community Center 4001 N Cook St. The Hillyard Neighborhood Council is responsible for communication between the neighborhood and the City.  Did you know neighborhood councils are called for by the City Charter?  They are an integral part of our City government that our new Mayor embraces whole-heartedly.  Come see what you are missing.

Hillyard Steering Committee Meeting
Last Thursday of every month, 7:00pm, Northeast Community Center 4001 N Cook St. The Hillyard Steering Committee is responsible for dispersing the funds given to Hillyard from the City Community Development funds.  The HSC meets the last Thursday of every month.
