Did you know that E-Z-Go is the number one selling golf cart in the world, and that the E-Z-Go dealership for the Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho region is located right here in Hillyard? That’s right, since 2000, ACES E-Z-Go has made a big impression on the golf cart market in the Inland Northwest. You see, ACES E-Z-Go fills a unique niche. We sell warrantied, refurbished carts that look as good, and often better, than new but cost half the price. We also carry the full line of new E-Z-Go Freedom golf carts, ST & MPT trail utility vehicles, as well as industrial & shuttle vehicles.

ACES E-Z-Go is run by Mike Tolley and his son Luke, both born and raised in Hillyard. In fact, ACES E-Z-Go is located across the street from Bill’s Heli-Arc, where Mike worked as a teenager in the 1960s. Mike is a true magician when it comes to building carts and satisfying customers. His mechanic skills are unmatched and his rapport with customers leaves them feeling more like friends when the work is done. After graduating from John R. Rogers High School, Luke attended the University in Arizona, receiving his Bachelor of Science. He then returned to Hillyard to help run the family business. Luke is a golf cart Jack-of-All Trades, doing a little of everything from delivering carts to paying bills to designing one of the best golf cart dealership websites around.

In the grand tradition of Hillyard custom hot rod shops, ACES makes every cart custom & unique; every cart is a work of art. Take for instance the 1957 Chevy modeled cart pictured above. An order came in from ACES’ website from a gentleman in Arizona requesting a Candy Apple Red ’57 Chevy E-Z-Go electric golf cart. For about a month Luke spoke with the customer over the telephone and via e-mail to nail down the specifics. Soon this cart was on its way to becoming a masterpiece. At times it seemed a bumpy ride as we wanted to ensure that we were designing exactly what the customer wanted.

After all the details were worked out, the body kit was ordered from an outfit in Florida and a chassis was prepared by Mike at ACES. A month later, when the body came in, it turned out the Florida body kit dealer had shipped the wrong nose, so the whole deal was set back 2 weeks while another body kit was sent. That was only the first of the calamities. When the body kit finally arrived, we rushed it to the painters, "Strombergs Body & Paint" (also in Hillyard). The timing couldn't have been worse, we had just received the biggest snowfall of the year. Well, needles to say, a big snowfall means a lot of work for body shops, so getting the 3-stage candy-apple red paint job ended up taking over 3 weeks. Various other parts and pieces were held up in the building of this cart, resulting in it being over 2 months late. In fact Luke had planned to take it down to Arizona and catch the Phoenix NASCAR racing in the beginning of November, but instead it was delivered in January via truck. The cart turned out great though with custom painting from Stromberg’s, custom decals from Kendall Signworks and a lot of hard work by Mike and Luke to put it all together. Even with all the set-backs, we had a truly happy customer.

Custom is the rule, NOT the exception at ACES E-Z-Go. Most golf cart dealerships sell used carts that are green or white and have no warranty. That’s because golf courses usually have green or white carts and they are just purchasing those carts and selling them. At ACES they take those same carts, strip them down to the frame and rebuild them from the ground up. They are so confident in their work that they offer a 5-year warranty (most new carts come with a 3-year warranty). ACES prides themselves in fitting carts to their owners. They also try to fit every budget and still have the cart roll out looking great.

Walk into their Julia St. shop and you will see two-tone WSU Cougar colored carts, carts with custom mag wheels, carts with custom upholstery and weather enclosures and all various colors schemes, but you'll rarely green or white. You’ll see a mix of carts built from 1972 to 2005; ranging from $500 to $10,000. Also, ACES sells many utility type vehicles, from $500 three-wheeled trade-ins to junk yards for hauling parts to the 6 passenger shuttle they currently have in for some cosmetic damage repair from EWU. You would be surprised how a golf cart takes on a whole new life when you put a pick up box or rear facing seat shuttle kit on it. Those are just a few of the ideas ACES E-Z-Go has taken to be on the cutting edge of golf cart design. They take care of their customers.

And as you probably noticed, ACES E-Z-Go is proud to work in conjunction with many Hillyard area businesses for storage, painting, welding and more. They epitomize community; ACES wants all of their neighbors to be as successful as they are. ACES E-Z-Go is proud to be a founding member of Historic-Hillyard.com and is proud to be an active participant in the Hillyard neighborhood.
