HELP WANTED:
WRITERS & REPORTERS
REPORTERS – Are
you thinking of a journalism career? Are you a seasoned
reporter with time on your hands? Or maybe you just like to
talk, listen and investigate. If so, we’d like to talk to you!
Historic-Hillyard.com is looking for volunteer reporters to work
within the Hillyard and NE Spokane communities. We're looking
for people who like to know what’s going on; who demonstrate
strong reporting abilities and who can produce timely, topical
ideas on the issues, events and personalities of the greater
Hillyard community. You will write for Historic-Hillyard.com but
should also keep an eye on issues that have broader interest to
all NE Spokane and the Inland Empire.
WRITERS – Historic-Hillyard.com is looking for volunteer
writers to work within the Hillyard and NE Spokane communities.
We're looking for people who can take an idea or someone else’s
notes and produce a story. We are community oriented so all
topics would be of, or relating to the greater Hillyard
community. However, we are expanding our site to include human
interest and fun sections such as youth, local schools, food,
health, nightlife, sports and more.
If you’re interested or would like to know more, please contact
us at Volunteer@Historic-Hillayrd.com. If you have examples of
interviews or stories that came out of interviews that you did,
please send them along. We look forward to hearing from you!

Hillyard Festival, 2005...
Rolling around the festival in a golf
cart ("Karenoia Gofer Service") I saw a
whole lot of things in short amounts of
time. My take is that this years
festival was truly a neighborhood event.
Hillyardites arrived from all points
with family and friends for a stroll
among the vendors. The air was vibrant
with laughing children, music and
conversation, bratwurst and corn on the
cob. In spite of the heat, the parade
route was lined from beginning to end.
Wherever I went, people were enjoying
themselves.

Hi everyone,
I would just like to take a minute and
thank everyone who helped make this
year's Festival a success. Aside from
the heat keeping the usual crowd down,
it was great. We had so many volunteers
for the parade, breakfast and at the
park, it was amazing. Thank you all so
much.
By the way, A Big Thanks to the VFW for
letting us hold the breakfast there. I
am not sure how many we served, but it
was a great place to have the breakfast.
The auxiliary ladies had the room all
decorated and everything ran pretty
smoothly. If you didn't come, you missed
a great breakfast!!!
Thanks,
Desi
