EDITOR'S COMMENTARY

Hillyard Businesses...
What Are You Thinking?
by Karen Tuininga

The hue and cry in Hillyard is "HOW?!" How do we come together to accomplish all of the goals that have been set in these historic times? Opportunity has us moving ahead at such a pace that any number of entities and individuals are scurrying to keep up with an overwhelming amount of information. HOW do we best assimilate this information. HOW do we best dispense this information, HOW do we get more involvement.

The answer to the first HOW is... we already have. This is evident by the number of meetings and events available to attend, the fresher look of downtown Hillyard, the interest of real estate in our neighborhood and business centers, the interest in Hillyard doings from other neighborhoods.

Obviously, Hillyard has an "All For One, One For All" attitude, things are getting done.
The brunt of this commitment has come largely from Hillyard business owners and it can be a strain on their time and resources. The call has come for an apex, a center point, an umbrella under which we all can all stand and get the information and enticement necessary to act. If you are reading this, you have already discovered a key to the solution.

HISTORIC-HILLYARD.COM is a HOW. Handing Out the Word is the way to assimilate, dispense, and involve. Business is the access to the public and we need their input. So,

HILLYARD BUSINESSES... WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?

Talk about it!

TUNE IN, TURN ON.

Editorial Comments do not necessarily portray the views of Historic-Hillyard.com.  The aim of this column is to inspire, embrace, and query our reading public.  Hillyard, like all neighborhood communities, has general issues as well as issues specific to this community. It's easy to talk about what's right and good with our neighborhood, it's leaders and general public, but it takes a bold stance to voice and bring to the forefront those negative and not so good issues of the same.

We encourage any and all responses to our Editorial Commentaries.  You may either submit an email to EditorialResponse@Historic-Hillyard.com or start a discussion in the Forum.
