Our Past & Present...

In this issue of Historic-Hillyard.com we are proud to present yet another new feature.  The first issue of each month will feature a local business in "Business on Track".  The 2nd issue of the month will present " Our Past & Present."   This month's feature is a true 'find' - a 1939 issue of the  "Inland Empire News - Hillyard Hi-Jinks Souvenir program".  This particular issue commemorates the new Francis Ave. Bridge.  Inside you'll get to know many committee leaders from 66 years ago.  If you read on you'll see a lot of the same community concerns and issues that we see today.  And you'll chuckle as you read  the ad for 5-cent hamburgers.  You'll also have a 'WOW' moment when you see the ad for the "Capitol', which is still doing business today.  All sixteen pages can be seen here.  Have fun as you peruse the past. *PLEASE NOTE: the photos are large intentionally so the text can be read.  However, loading time may be lengthy depending upon your connection speed.  More >>

HHP General Meeting
The Historic Hillyard Partnership general meeting will be held Tuesday, February 2nd at 7:00pm.  Place yet to be determined.  The agenda will consist of going over the work plans in more detail and discuss the next part of the process for becoming full-on Main Street community by June.

J.R. Sloan made a wonderful presentation on SNEDA at the Neighborhood Council meeting held this last Wednesday, January 19th.
