The Hillyard Festival Association Presents:

Hillyard’s annual ChalkArtWalk takes place on the sidewalks of downtown Hillyard Saturday, June 3^rd. Each year the sidewalks of our fair business district are transformed, like magic, into a riot of color and commentary as contestants of all ages and levels of ability, toddlers through adult, vie for cash and prizes in five age groups, during this family orientated event.  Free T-shirts featuring last years BEST OF SHOW are given to the first 100 entrants, and every year many proudly sport the T-shirts they’ve received as participants during previous years. The entry judged Best of Show receives $100, a custom framed picture of their entry and is featured on next years’ ChalkArtWalk T-shirt.

Each year a theme is selected to provide for a wide variety of subject matter and colorful designs. The theme for ChalkArtWalk 2006 is “Magic”.  Registration begins at 10:00 A.M. in the Hillyard Square located at the NE corner of Market and Queen.  Because free T-shirts are only given to the first 100 entrants registration is on a first come basis the day of the event only.  Additional shirts may be purchased at the registration booth.

A basic selection of chalk is provided free at registration but participants are encouraged to bring their own chalks and fixative for a greater variety of colors and deeper values. This year, for the first time, oil pastels and gesso surface preparation will be allowed.
