EDITOR'S COMMENTARY

Roots...
by Karen Tuininga

seep into the ground. Particularly when the ground is fertile with a traditional way of life. A mindset, if you will. A need, a nurture. A call from the future.

Morgan Acres responded to the call. Misconstrued as a threat of annexation, numbers of concerned citizens attended a gathering addressing county interests... two plus years ago. Since then, the Morgan Acres community has stepped up, re-identified themselves, and reserved their own with the good graces of each of the current county commissioners.

Roots, old or new, are the infrastructure of any community that must meet the challenges of obscurance... perchance to survive by entwining and creating a solid foundation.

Editorial Comments do not necessarily portray the views of Historic-Hillyard.com.  The aim of this column is to inspire, embrace, and query our reading public.  Hillyard, like all neighborhood communities, has general issues as well as issues specific to this community. It's easy to talk about what's right and good with our neighborhood, it's leaders and general public, but it takes a bold stance to voice and bring to the forefront those negative and not so good issues of the same.

We encourage any and all responses to our Editorial Commentaries.  You may either submit an email to EditorialResponse@Historic-Hillyard.com or start a discussion in the Forum.
